Continuing from the last post where we talked about the steady rise of popularity experienced by the Internet and how those in charge of marketing web sites have had to learn a whole new marketing language based on reaching targeted web site traffic instead of traditional new business leads generated by print ads, television, and radio. But while we went about all these methods by which to increase web site traffic and make our way in the online world through proper search engine optimization we began to see that even though the rules have changed the core of successful marketing has not. The buzz is what has always propelled a successful marketing campaign. When a company – or in this case, a web site – is able to generate a buzz they are able to generate web site traffic. And this constant stream of interest, coupled with search engine optimization techniques, feeds off of itself and continuous traffic is enjoyed.
The forum is one of the best ways in which to create a buzz around a web site; as is the inclusion of online blogs both written and video based. This gets people talking; gets them coming back to read more, see more, see who commented, and so forth. Think of the many social networking sites in existence at the moment. For those who are participants in such sites there is rarely a day that goes by in which they do not log on at least once – and often several times – a day to find out what is being said, who posted, what comments they received and so forth.
By translating this type of interest-generating content onto your web site you can create interest and inspire ongoing web site traffic.
