Merit Equals Online Position and Web Site Traffic, Part II

In the last post we talked about the online world in terms of an election campaign in which web sites run a race to be noticed by the online population and given a vote of confidence from the search engines; the engines that will in turn deliver a web site with more web site traffic. It is a constant process to stay on the radar of the search engines and go about the method of online marketing that will deliver the popular vote.
Search engine optimization is the method by which web sites find footing in the organic results delivered by the search engines. One component of this SEO is the use of content; information on and off the site (but linking back to the site) that incorporates the use of specific keywords and keyword phrases that will best attract the attention of targeted web site traffic – those visitors that are most likely to be in search of the site’s particular offerings and are therefore more likely to become customers.
But another significant component of search engine optimization is linking, whereby links from other highly ranked sites count as a vote for the web site – like another popular political candidate out there campaigning for someone in which they strongly believe. This is a vote of confidence and popularity to the search engines that will respond by moving the site higher in their page rankings.
Between content and linking strategies those web sites that are fully engaged in the process of search engine optimization are making daily strides to stay on the radar of the search engines and get noticed by Internet users.
